Actress Gina Carano has filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm, alleging wrongful termination and discrimination stemming from her dismissal from the popular series "The Mandalorian." The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday in a California federal court, revolves around Carano's termination following a controversial social media post in which she drew parallels between being a Republican and being Jewish during the Holocaust. The post highlighted historical atrocities faced by Jews during the Holocaust and compared it to contemporary political discourse.

Carano, who portrayed Cara Dune in the hit series, has been known to express conservative views on social media but came under immediate scrutiny after sharing the controversial post on her Instagram Story in February 2021. Following this, both Lucasfilm and UTA, Carano's agency at the time, severed ties with her, leading to her subsequent lawsuit against Disney.

The legal action, backed by funding from Elon Musk, underscores Carano's assertion that Disney and Lucasfilm enforced a singular ideology, stifling dissenting viewpoints, and punishing those who deviate from them. The lawsuit further suggests a lack of tolerance for diverse perspectives or expressions within their organization.

Furthermore, the lawsuit also details alleged double standards, highlighting past social media posts by other "Star Wars" actors that equated President Donald Trump and his supporters with Adolf Hitler and Nazis, without facing similar consequences.

Carano seeks redress for wrongful termination and discrimination. Additionally, she demands that Lucasfilm be compelled to reinstate her in 'The Mandalorian' and pay punitive damages of at least $75,000.
